Ilias Selalmazidis

As far as I can remember, I have danced since my earliest childhood (traditional and folk dances) and, as my mother said: « that child (me) danced before walking ». But the tango entered my life unexpectedly 14 years ago.

What I love when I dance tango is that I can be myself, ready to exchange thoughts, emotions or even an aura. This may sometimes give the impression of being exposed, but always in a reassuring way. The most beautiful in the tango is the interaction between the partners on the track and how we communicate during the tanda.

It's the same interaction I'm looking for when I'm DJ behind the plates. — But in this case, the exchange is between me and all the dancers. What I'm trying to do, and the challenge I'm facing is to capture the moments, the signs, the expressions of the dancers, or even, if possible, feel the energy on the track in order to harmonize it with the next tanda.

Finally, I have a multitude of pieces of tango to share that deserve to be heard and that only wait to be danced — and I always wonder how they could be interpreted through the art of dance.

My preferences, as both DJ and dancer, go to the Golden Age. Favorite orchestras : Biagi, Donato, Troilo, Pugliese, D

How people describe my music: seductive, intense, rhythmic, fluid... Can't sit!
